![]() As she’s driving to Walter’s parent’s house, she tunes into the radio station of the talk show where Sam is telling the story of his late wife. Forgetting something inside, Annie tells Walter to go ahead without her and she would only be about ten minutes behind. They enjoy a nice dinner with her family before preceding on to meet Walter’s family. Because of the amount of presents and the busy schedule they have, they decide to take seperate cars to her parents house. Meanwhile, on the other side of the United States in Baltimore, a woman, Annie Reed, is taking her fiancé, Walter, to meet her family. Her interest peaked, the host askes to speak to Sam about this. Jonah explains to the show host that his mother had passed and his dad needed a new wife to make him happy. ![]() While his father stands outside overlooking the water, Jonah decides to contact a radio talk show psychologist. It is now Christmas Eve and Jonah has become worried his father will never be happy again. Devistated by the loss of his wife and trying to escape the torture of being reminded of her everywhere he goes, Sam decides to uproot him and his eight year old son, Jonah, to Seattle.ġ8 months have passed and Sam is still in a rut. Plot: Sleepless in Seattle starts in Chicago at a funeral of the late wife and mother of Sam and Jonah Baldwin. Listening to Sam’s story, Annie Reed, a writer for a Baltimore newspaper (played by Meg Ryan), becomes curious about the man of the voice she hears over the radio. Shortly after, letters start flooding in from women all over the United States with interests in dating Sam Baldwin leading Sam and Jonah on a trip of fate to the Empire State Building in New York where they find the woman he’s been searching for waiting for them at the top. Worried about his father, Jonah contacts a radio talk show in hopes of finding another woman for Sam. ![]() Story: In the 1993 film Sleepless in Seattle, Sam Baldwin (played by Tom Hanks) feels as though he will never find another woman to love after the death of his beloved wife. I said, ‘No, I just said it, then you guys put it in the movie.Writer: Jeff Arch, Nora Ephron, and David S. He added, “Once the movie came out, I said, ‘Hey, you know, that stuff was pretty funny.’ And Nora said, ‘Well, you wrote that. And Nora and Delia would say, ‘Well, what would you say?’ I said, ‘Well, I would say this, la la la.’ And they took that and they put it in the movie.” You know what I’d say to the little bastard if I was going out on a date and he tried -’ and I just kept going on, all this kind of stuff. Oh, boo hoo, my son doesn’t want me to go out. “So here are these two women that are running rehearsals, and I was complaining continuously that they were women and I was a man,” Hanks recalled. Hanks suggested changing the dialogue between his character and onscreen son (played by Ross Malinger) during a fight scene on set. I had everybody telling me I was a big shot. “When we first met for ‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ I was a big shot. “She told me I was a writer when I didn’t realize I was a writer,” Hanks said during the “Q with Tom Power” podcast. ![]() Tom Hanks recently praised late filmmaker Ephron, with whom he collaborated on both “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail.” Hanks credited Ephron for encouraging his writing career.
